J*Davey - Taylor McFerrin - Heavy at SOB's Sunday June 8th 8pm $12 in advance/$15 day of show

Sunday June 8th S.O.B.'s Presents: J*DAVEYw/ Special Guests: Taylor McFerrin & Heavy

Doors: 7pm Show: 8pm Admission: $12 Advance/$15 Day of Show S.O.B.’s and Sista Factory present J*Davey, the Los Angeles-based new wave electro-soul duo that broke out and developed a strong cult following after several opening gigs for Prince in 2007.

With influences ranging from punk, soul rock and hip hop, J*Davey has defined its own genre, and according to Brook D’Leau, the group’s producer, "It's simple, [J*Davey] is a post hip-hop electronic new wave funk punk jazz band.”
According to ?uestlove, super-producer and famed drummer of the Roots, “J*Davey is the swift kick in the ass I’ve been praying for Black Music to produce!” No matter how you describe it, J*Davey is an undeniably original sound that screams individuality. Brook D’Leau, is the guy responsible for their snappy drum loops and electronic impulses, while Jack Davey is the modelesque girl, sporting a mohawk and polishing off his beats with her sexy and seductive voice.

Martha Redbone Shows this Spring/Summer 2008‏

All,

Martha Redbone is one of my favorite artists to listen to both on CD and Live. She brings a strong sense of quality like the music we all grew up listening to when we were kids.

I recently had the opportunity to record with Martha and her musical partner Aaron Whitby on a new song. Martha brought the song to life with every bit of professionalism.

I was so thankful for her talent singing on my song.

Below is from Martha's newsletter of what is going on this Spring and Summer for her.

Please review and hit her websites to check out her beautiful sound.

In many New York City neighborhoods, there are community gardens. The people of the neighborhood, carried soil to the gardens, cleaned out garbage and rats, pooled their money and planted trees and seeds, making beautiful places to enjoy and to work together in.

Often these gardens contain small club houses, Casitas, where people meet to talk, to share their cultural heritages; where poets come to recite and write and musicians play. La Casita—A Home for the Heart is now in its 8th season.

It is very popular and has brought the wonderful poetry and songs of the Caribbean, Africa, Mexico, Spain, Central America and Latin America, Middle East, Asia, and voices from Native American artists, to all kinds of people.

La Casita—A Home for the Heart presents over 20 different poets, troubadours, and bands during a two-day period.

It is in one weekend of Lincoln Center Out of Doors, one of the Northeastern United States’ largest and oldest festivals of free music, dance, special events, projects, and children’s activities. Pat Cisarano on Sundance Channel Miniseries "Flying: Confessions of a Free" tonight at 9pm

All,

Pat is one of the first people ever to pull me up on stage in NYC to sing and a dear friend. Tonight Pat will appear on the Sundance Channel mini-series "Flying: Confessions of a Free Woman" tonight at 9pm. In Brooklyn on Time Warner Cable that would be Channel 101.

Please check out this mini-series by Jennifer Fox who is a great filmmaker.

Pat Cisarano will also be performing this Thursday at The 55 Bar on Thursday from 7-9pm.

Check out the info on both the show and the mini-series below with links.

Peace,

Tom

Pat & the Combo-Nation will be appearing at the 55 Bar on Thursday, 5/5 7PM to 9PM
We invite you to watch the first episode of FLYING: CONFESSIONS OF A FREE WOMAN, Jennifer Fox's groundbreaking miniseries. Pat appears mostly in the first episode, some in the second and last.
To get an idea of the film, read Joe Grandwilliams review.

The first installment of this series will feature Long Island Blues Society member Pat Cisarano.
Pat has been called the best White Blues Singer in the World by Tony Bennett and damn near everybody else that has ever heard her.

Sisterhood of the traveling camera
Memoirs have been in the news a lot lately - particularly when
they turn out to be less than truthful (thus making Oprah very
angry). The solution? Let's go to the videotape! That's what
globe-trotting filmmaker Jennifer Fox did - capturing five years
of her own rocky personal life, with stops along the way to chat
up women everywhere.
Flying: Confessions of a Free Woman (on the Sundance Channel
beginning 5/5) is a six-hour DIY miniseries that mixes Fox's own
up-front video diary (she's often literally naked, struggling
with the choice between two lovers) with the enlightening
onscreen confessions she elicits from women in 17 countries.
It's these heartbreaking stories from Pakistan, Cambodia,
Somalia - tales of ritual genital mutilation, teenage
prostitution, enforced marriage - that make Fox (and her
audience) realize that maybe simply being unlucky in love is the
least bad luck of all.

Woman for information on upcoming screenings

ONUTSS Listening Party - Anthony Dixon, Greg Soundz, Brown Baby Girl

ONUTSS NEWS - Check out their myspace page for all their info:

What's Up Next for ONUTSS

Ejam has become a special friend to many of us who frequent music forums where nothing but the best in good music news abounds. Members of Lalah Hathaway's Pink Room, Rahsaan Patterson's Yahoo Group, Ledisi's Green Room, Eric Roberson's Planet E.R.F and Frank McComb's World of HoneyCombs/Frankadelics have been blessed with periodic hour-long musical treasures that contain impossible to find gems that no ordinary mortal could get their hands on, all put together by the illusive Ejam. He's been doing for years what he recently started to share with you guys. His trips to New York from the Netherlands are too infrequent, so this time around ONUTSS is going to celebrate his coming with a mini soulful offering. We'll be featuring some musical friends from Lalah's PinkRoom --
Brown Baby Girl, Anthony Dixon and Greg Soundz. We hope you can join us to meet the master behind the monster BLT's!! We will be hanging out at The Sepia Lounge up in Harlem -- a nice, cozy spot with great happy hour drink specials and tasty appetizers.

ONUTSS thanks you for your love and support. We also want to remind you that our services include event planning and promotion -- promotion not only of the wonderful independent artists that are not featured on mainstream radio, but promotion of your special events or showcases.

Peace & Abundant Blessings,
Detrel Howell & Pamela Nichols

Two Grand Additions (Get Ur Tix) & Thanks for a Soulfolk Week!

Hey Fam,

Thanks to everyone who came out last week for the week of Soulfolks.

We had a great time at all the shows. It's cool to do a tour of sorts in your own city.

This is your friendly reminder that it's time to get your tix for the Queen's Daughters show at the Manhattan Center featuring blaKbüshe, Tamar-Kali and Joi. Yes that's Joi from ATL! Also added to the finale as our very special guests are Angela Johnson and Stephanie McKay!!! What!!!? You see what I'm saying?

Do not delay getting your tix for if you do, you will miss the hotness or you will have to pay double at the door and I know you don't want either of those things. Also I have a way for you not to pay the ticketmaster surchage. You know how that can be. So PAY ATTENTION and I will list all of the information below.

In the mean time check out the U People promo for the Queen's Daughters show I've also posted it on my Myspace page and my JOURNAL, along with a new video of me doing "Long Train Running" at One Mic at Hacienda. Remember that's every Monday for you New York folks.
Have a great weekend and Get Your Tix NOW. They are moving folks and you want to be there. I can't wait to see you!
Peace,

Shelley
