Folk Singer Odetta passes at age 77

All,

If you ever had a chance to hear Odetta sing and perform live, you would know that we have just lost a Legend of Music.
I had the pleasure of seeing her perform in the Summer of 2006 at Prospect Park's Celebrate Brooklyn Festival. She was filling in for Bobby "Blue" Bland who was sick and unable to perform.
As frail as she seemed the power within her gave everyone in the audience the hope to keep striving for the meet their goals as she did that night.
There wasn't a dry eye in the air that night.
Truly an amazing performance and what a story teller.
Odetta, the singer whose deep voice wove together the strongest songs of American folk music and the civil rights movement, died on Tuesday at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan. She was 77. The cause was heart disease, said her manager, Doug Yeager. He added that she had been hoping to sing at Barack Obama's Inauguration.Click on this link to read the full story.http://www.nytimes.com/2008/12/03/arts/music/03odetta.html?_r=1&hp
Need to know more hit this link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Odetta
Rest In Peace Odetta, you will be missed.
Peace and One Love,
Tom Paul

SundayBest Collective featuring artists selling their crafts and performances by Karen Bernod/Martha Redbone/Keith Fluitt/Tomas Doncker

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Sunday, December 7th from 2pm-7pm

***FREE EVENT***

The Katalist has put together a really cool event in Greenwich Village called The SundayBest Collective.

The SundayBest Collective; a unique forum of hip artisans, trendsetters and entertainers was created to showcase the works and talents of their international, unknown and independent peers. This collective is not just the people; it's not just the artwork. It's an urban bazaar/cocktail party/networking event.

There will be music, mingling, and lots of people like you there getting their "party started". It's like a remix of what you typically come to expect from an average everyday flea market or art show because this event is meant to "match-make" lovers of beautiful things with those who create.

Whether it's art (both wearable and fine) or music, The SundayBest Collective is the event that brings it to the community-at-large in an environment without the heavy sell because the merchandise speaks for itself. See for yourself in this really cool video here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZydsCwIlaFo

We have also recently added a terrific music line-up as well. You can see that trailer here:
